Photographer Hatnim Lee captures LUAR Spring Summer 2025 collection “En Boca Quedó,” by Creative Director Raul Lopez, at Rockefeller Plaza during New York Fashion Week, from backstage to the runway.
“En Boca Quedó” is commonly used in Dominican Republic as a playful form of shade. Popularized by the elderly, it has since been adopted by the LGBT community. The direct translation is “I stay in the mouth,” implying that even when you walk away, people will continue to talk about you, for better or worse. It’s a subtle nod of your presence, even when you’re not there. The city expects performance and resilience, and are either impressed or were swallowed up. Lopez’s textures and outlines mirror these basic tendencies, creating a visual language of survival, aggressiveness, and the road to becoming his actual, honest self.
