Wild Rose and Sparrow filled the library of the Institut de France with a show that told a story of 3 different characters.
Coven, a tribute to gothic literature with dark Victorian aesthetics. Chevaliere, inspired by the heroines such as Joan of Arc with tapestries and bead work. Concluding with, Sonnet, revolving around the softness and ethereal feeling of poetry. All and all Wild Rose and Sparrows SS26 show was much more than just a show to watch, it was a narrative that unfolded right in front of you.
Chapter one, Coven, was a very dramatic step away from the brands usual image. The clothes were dark, moody and exclusively black. A dramatic shift from the brand’s usual image. However, they still arrived the romanticism we expect to see from Wild Rose and Sparrow. Following up was a strong transition, Chevaliere. This chapter featured very intricately woven fabrics, complemented by very good beadwork. Of the 3 chapters, this was one I wish was more developed as it was a first from the brand to use such intricate weaves. Finally, was Sonnet, likely to please longtime fans as it continued to elevate the brands usual soft and fairytale-like design language
Wild Rose is a Montreal-based brand headed by daughter Ariana Dancu and her mother, Liana Dancu. After launching in 2022, the brand has displayed their collections at Paris Fashion Week. The brand has created a very strong image, based around romanticism, femininity and a very close attention to detail. Paired along with strong story telling related to the family’s heritage, as well as stories, art, and even ballet. SS26’s collection was simply another chapter to add to their growing story. – Bennett Thyren
