Viktor&Rolf’s SS26 collection is a self-proclaimed “souvenir of Haute Couture” their ready-to-wear collection, introduced through a lookbook photographed by Nynne Henriksen, still stands up to their usual couture collections.
Featuring their classical sculptural silhouettes and poetic style, the collection is in turn able to create a new lane for Viktor and Rolf, without sacrificing their craftsmanship and vision. SS26’s ready-to-wear look book reintroduces looks from their couture archives and is created for bold women who make the cities they live in their grounds for self-expression.
In the SS26 collection from Viktor&Rolf, we can observe many staples of their 30+ years in couture. Over the past 30 years, they have developed a mastery of many couture techniques, which they have applied to their ready-to-wear collections. Their beautiful draping, voluminous ruffles, elegant necklines, and persistent attention to fabrics and fit. They further reinforce this collection with a very refined and elegant selection of colors, blacks, whites, beiges, cream, mixed with an olive green and deep navy, which creates the delicate balance we see between a defined and powerful elegance typical of Viktor and Rolf
Netherland born, Viktor&Rolf have been creating high fashion garments in the realm of couture since the early 1990s. Headed by Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, two graduates of the Arnhem Academy of Art and Design. The two gained attention after winning many awards, including top awards, in the Festival d’Hyères. They would go on to launch their couture line in 1998 and their ready-to-wear line later in the year 2000. Throughout their many years they have and continue to focus on their craft, theatre, and experimentation with layers, silhouette, and much more, all of which is omnipresent in their SS26 ready-to-wear collection. – Bennett Thyren
