Director and actress Wally Bajeux is back with a new theatre piece Nature Morte dans un Fossé by Fausto Paradivino. A thriller which reflects the darkness of our actual society. And for this polar piece, she wanted to highlight actors which seems to be different from others as it’s also a question about how teenagers can identify themselves in the art and cinema background scene since the #metoo movement.
For her new piece, Wally directed it in a way where she considered that youngsters are more and more connected and simultaneously isolated due to new technologies. Yes, with the internet, it’s easier to communicate but sometimes we are not aware of how this 2.0 world can make socialization and normalization complicated. When the Harvey Weinstein gate came up, many actresses broke the silence and revealed how this industry is hard for them as they were being manipulated by a powerful man. Since then, feminists pointed out that nobody needs to remain in the closet.
“Now women are more and more brave to fight their rights. This is amazing as many things changed in the cinema as well as in the theatrical scene… I’m happy doing this new piece where I’ve got a total control of what I want to do, it’s a kind of success for me ”
If some feminists have some radical opinions about men in this industry, Wally does not really share this point of view about the fact that all men could be a danger for women. “I think we need to calm down with this witch hunting… I love men and we can’t say that every man is bad. With my own experience, we need to be aware of dangers whatever if it’s a man or not”. With Nature Morte dans un Fossé there’s this questioning about the dark vision of our society with a little touch of an optimist as like every polar movie, there’s always a ray of light which twists some surprising events.
