Photographer Piotr Niepsuj captures what went down at LỰU ĐẠN’s Seedy Chinatown Hideout during Paris Fashion Week in ChinaTown Belleville .

Designer Hung La’s world of LỰU ĐẠN continues to find physical evolution, taking shape in different locales around the world (New York, Paris, Shanghai and La’s hometown of London) engaging its expansive community in an array of activations – from pool and mahjong nights, to tattoo parlors and dinner parties – the brand’s events continue to yield opportunities to deepen bonds, to dress-up, and ultimately, to be transformed.

ChinaTown Belleville provided a most apt background to see this narrative’s manifestation as guests belted out old school classics, faces lit by flickering lyrics on-screen and red lights. In another room, tensions were high as guests played mahjong in a tournament-style format. After round and rounds of gameplay, Susie Lau emerged victorious (again!), taking home the coveted grand-prize of the brand’s signature Hell-fire L-D Jacket. No one wanted to go home but nonetheless the night beckoned us all onwards.

Guests included: Paloma Elsesser, Kim Lee, Dr. Woo, Camille Vivier, Blake Abbie, Susie Lau, Nhu Xuan Hua, Tyler Joe, Coco Labbee, Patrick Li, Tommy Ton, Lynette Nylander, Jackie Shuya-Tan, Justin Moran, Kat Zhang, Osman Ahmed, Mahoro Seward, Daniel Sannwald, Elly Karamoh, Declan Chan, Sara Campossarcone, Eva Losada, Kristen Bateman

ABOUT LỰU ĐẠN

Designer menswear label, LỰU ĐẠN is the personal oeuvre of Hung La, co-founder of luxury label Kwaidan Editions. Referring to a Dangerous Man in Vietnamese, LỰU ĐẠN is a collectively realized dream anchored by the shared experiences of Asian men, unfettered by one-dimensional tropes and expectation. Yielding new depth and unalloyed visibility for Asian masculinity, the LỰU ĐẠN man embraces his heritage and finds pride in his identity in a way that feels defiant and provocative. He uses his voice to build bridges between the interiority of his world and the larger, global community and encourages others to do the same. Utilizing rich, sonorous color palettes, reminiscent prints and silhouettes that evoke tribute by breathing modernity into tradition, LỰU ĐẠN traces stitches back to lineage. Aesthetics become linguistic and LỰU ĐẠN becomes an exemplary brand that pushes fashion’s boundaries, becoming solely defined by those whose backs it adorns.
