Dogme: Big Jok’Air Daddy
Participants: Niklas Bergstrand, Davidson, Isma, Chich, adidas Originals by Alexander Wang, Y-3 and shot on location with Recup Paris
In the current landscape of French rap, Jok’Air is a heavy hitter and having gone solo from mythical rap band MZ earlier this year all eyes are on him. He has already seen success and already knows the industry, but takes us by surprise with cutting out street cred and bringing in a sensitive element. He is now raw, melodious, and found a solo voice that he couldn’t express before. If anything, he is independent yet holds strong roots with his fans: white, black, Muslim, women and gays. Its about a return to lyrics and flow. Few French rappers have broken into the American scene, but Jok’air is garnering their attention as he has freed himself from what we can only describe as the French sonic aesthetic.
Signed with Arista France, his much anticipated album is out next year, but meanwhile he has dropped some EPs online for his fans.
