In collaboration with choreographer, dancer, artist, athlete, and Nike partner Parris Goebel, Nike hosted “Goddess Awakened” in Paris, an experience celebrating the collective power of movement, not to mention style. The 40-minute performance was directed, choreographed, and led by Goebel, brought to life by a collective of more than 30 Nike athletes and partners. It took its inspiration from Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, inspiring viewers to tap into their inner strength and support the collective power of women.

“Throughout history, women have been told how to act, what to say, how to feel — tonight is about breaking those binds and letting our voices be heard, our bodies be acknowledged, and our wings take flight, together,” says Goebel, who wrote a letter to the audience to help set the tone for the night. “To me, there is no better way to express the love, grief, power, and femininity of this moment than through dance, and I’m grateful for Nike’s partnership in giving me the stage, literally and figuratively, to do it.”

Eye-catching forthcoming pieces from Nike collaborators, including Martine Rose, Yoon Ahn, and Feng Chen Wang, wove together a compelling narrative that was soulful, united, and uninhibited. Taken together, these moments, with “Goddess Awakened” as the latest example, demonstrate Nike’s commitment to being the world’s biggest champion for women and girls.

“My collection reflects the unity of womanhood through a collaged scarf jacket, the women embracing their femininity, and the masculinity side that plays in harmony in their womanhood through the story of soccer.” -Yoon Ahn, Nike x Ambush

“When a woman wears a suit, it expresses strength, resilience, and beauty. I want women to feel powerful in their suits, the way men do. More than that, although I’m using women to tell the story, there’s no gender attached to the suit, anyone can wear it. I hope one day we’re not talking about gender in sport and are just talking about the sport – once everything is stripped back, it’s just the game that’s left” -Martine Rose, Nike x Martine Rose

“This collection with Nike centers on a multi-wear jacket that can be styled in many ways. Just like how a woman is multi-dimensional and plays many different roles in her life: Daughter, Friend, Lover, Sister, Wife, and Mother, amongst others. We are one, and we are all.” -Feng Cheng Wang, Nike x Feng Chen Wang
