Michael Kors is making Paris its playground with an immersive pop-up at Galeries Lafayette Champs-Élysées, transforming the department store’s soaring atrium into a chic, hotel-inspired universe with the debut of the new Hamilton Moderne bag. The pop-up doesn’t just showcase a bag—it stages a conversation between eras, proving that what once defined the 2000s is finding a new audience nearly twenty years later.
Beyond the spectacle, the timing feels particularly pointed. Once the epitome of 2000s accessible luxury—think oversized logo totes, metallic finishes, and the glossy world of jet-set chic—Michael Kors has found a second life among Gen Z. Today’s younger shoppers, who grew up with Y2K nostalgia on TikTok and thrifted vintage Kors on Depop, are rediscovering the brand’s playful glamour. The Hamilton Moderne, a reimagining of one of its most iconic bags, is a reminder of why Michael Kors became a household name in the first place: accessible aspiration with a wink of excess. Today’s Michael Kors will be the new vintage in decades to come.
At the heart of the space towers a 4.5-meter fringed Hamilton Moderne, a larger-than-life spectacle that sets the tone: playful, bold, and unapologetically luxurious. Guests enter through a “check-in” desk, where they receive a Michael Kors room key—some of which unlock weekly prizes, including a brand-new Hamilton Moderne.
The installation is not just retail, but theatre. Every weekend, a charm bar lets visitors personalize their bags with playful trinkets, echoing fashion’s current obsession with customization. On Thursday evenings, the space morphs into a lively lobby bar, complete with champagne and live sets by pianist Pierre-Yves Plat.
The installation remains open to the public until September 22, 2025 at Galeries Lafayette Champs-Élysées
