Fairytale music and pastel colors, Maitrepierre’s AW25 show, “Future Memory” brought us back in time and made us explore our memories.
A dress seemed to be done with pink and green paper cutouts, paired with Converse and socks, set the tone for the playful collection. The image of a child creating a fantasy dress came to mind. Each look played with the concept of “memory”, from fringes in dresses, tops, skirts, and coats reminiscent of the 20s and the Bohemian style to track jackets from the 80s. The designs showed what it means to look good in comfort, with their lounge wear-inspired feel merged with a mind of creativity. Without a doubt, the embellishments that lift off the garments were the star of the show, as they grew from all garments, including the thigh-high Converse featured in the collection.
The music’s main instrument was fantasy, a rhythm you see in the “just married” montage of a movie when life is perfect and there’s no wrong. This same fantasy was experienced in the vines of paper-like flowers climbing the shoes and outfits, connecting us with a love for nature. But the Maitrepierre person also wears formal coats and carries their bag in their hand, hugging it under their shoulder. The bags came in big sizes with tropical prints and in medium sizes with bright colors and edgy corners to match their Converse and “woke up like this” hairstyles. The pastel,color-filled, vibrant collection truly showcased the different types of memories we all have.
