Vautrait’s SS26 collection titled Printemps Été provided a stage for memories that had long passed. Instead, the space acted as a place for the pieces and their pasts to reflect with one another, and for us to simply just listen in. Taking inspiration from sleeves, buttons, silks, and more that were once in the spotlight and have since been reduced to fabric and the scent they carried. While the memories are more silent now, the collection feels anything but quiet. Bold and structured silhouettes, and a very mature pallet serve as the perfect backdrop to what SS26 was for Vautrait.

Printemps Été at its heart was a collection designed for memories, but more specificall, by the garments that these memories left behind. Yonathan Carmel, the designer, has said the collection revolves around the gathering of pieces and parts that once stood at the center of one’s life, but since they have ended up in markets and dusty closets. Vautrait is now giving them another chance to walk amongst each other. Ultimately, creating a collection that serves as a way for memories to be relived and their silence to be broken.

Starting as a photographer, Yonathan Carmel didn’t really see himself becoming a fashion designer. However, after establishing his brand in 2021 the brand has become closely associated with their craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the desire to stay away from creating the ideal figure and instead embracing the one a wearer already has. Pairing this with a desire to create an image and product that lasts, Vautrait is constantly and continues to go against the grain, and SS26 is no exception. – Bennett Thyren
